Hi faisal_siddiqi, you've attended a very good university which is well-known in the City - you've reached the first stage. As you say you need to focus on improving your chances further. You don't mention what you are looking to do in the bank (i.e. job)? Try www.ibadvice.com and go to the Overview of an investment bank. It'll be easier to work out a stratergy once you know exactly - I assume it's front office? |

Hi
The academic credentials are great but in this climate experience counts! There are a lot of professionals with qualifications and experience - books and qualifications can never prepare you for the banking world.
Hard to give too much advice because you have not stated whether you are looking for a FO, MO or BO role. But based on what you have said I would start looking to gain some experience by applying directly for internships. In this climate, banks are less willing to employ poeple with little o no experience when there is a ide pool of candidates with both. I know a few people who have stuggled to get in when I graduated back in 2007 and transferable skills was the stumbling block. If you have no luck with the banks, think about alternative professional fields where you can build up some transferable skills (accountancy is a popular choice for example). Good luck
