Entry level in BankingBack to Career Advice forum

I have a 2.1 degree in business and marketing and am looking for a way into banking? What is the best way into banking, I am thinking of getting a entry job as a filing clerk etc and working my way up. Any advice would be greatly apprepicated.

Matt, the best way into investment banks given you lack prior experience is to apply for an internship. The best one being ones from campus recruiting that takes places between summers of your semesters, but if you have already graduated, there are opportunities still. Assuming you belong to the second category, first step you need to do is tap into your alumni directory to see if anyone is working in the bank of your choice. Next, get in touch with that person (yes awkward, but must be done) and see if he / she is in a position to help you out. Finally make sure that you track analyst position opening on the web like a hawk. There are plenty of websites out there that lists intro positions for banking, but for the bulge bracket banks, their recruiting calendar is very specific - so you need to note the dates for application deadlines on their respective recruiting websites.
